Who We Serve

best private school for students with learning disabilities

Oakwood is a 1st through 8th grade school for bright students with language-based learning differences located in the DC Metro area.

Oakwood students are elementary and middle school aged children who may have been diagnosed with a specific learning disability (dyslexia, dyscalculia, or dysgraphia). We are most successful serving students that are impacted at a mild or moderate level of severity.

Almost half of school-aged children with a learning disability have also been diagnosed with ADHD and we are designed to support students who may have attention or executive function challenges.

Oakwood School is also successful in serving students who show symptoms of a visual or auditory processing disorder when it contributes to underachievement in math, reading, or writing.

The best way to determine if we can help your child and your family is to attend an info session and learn more.
