What type of student does Oakwood serve?

Oakwood School serves students with learning differences in grades 1 through 8. Our students have average to above average abilities but have not reached their academic potential in traditional educational settings.

How do I schedule a visit to your school?

We offer both group and individual tours throughout the year. Register now for your tour. If you would prefer to schedule an individual appointment, please call our office at 703-941-5788.

What is your average class size?

Our average class size is 10 to 12 students with two teachers in each classroom.

Do you offer before and after school care?

We offer an Extended Day Program. The Morning Extended Day Program begins at 7:00 A.M., and the After School Extended Day Program is available until 5:30 P.M. We also offer After School Enrichment Clubs such as (but not limited to) drama, art, fitness, and music lessons.

Do you provide transportation?

We do not provide bus transportation. The majority of our families carpool. Oakwood does provide a zip code list to facilitate families in forming carpools.

What is your application deadline?

Oakwood School has rolling admissions which means that we accept applications throughout the year. Families seeking fall placement are encouraged to apply by January 30.

Do you offer tuition assistance?

Yes. Tuition assistance is awarded yearly on an as needed basis. A Tuition Assistance Application as well the prior year's tax returns must be submitted each year to be reviewed by the Financial Aid Committee.
