At Oakwood, we welcome capable students who are working behind grade level due to any number of learning challenges.

Many families arrive with formal evaluations or diagnoses (e.g., dyslexia, dysgraphia, ADHD, processing or auditory challenges), but a diagnosis is not required to begin the admissions process.

At Oakwood School, every teacher is certified and trained in the Orton-Gillingham approach, so your child receives consistent, structured literacy instruction throughout the school day. Each academic classroom is led by teachers who are experts in supporting students with language-based learning differences and ADHD.

Students are intentionally grouped in homeroom teams and small groups for reading, writing, and math, receiving 150 minutes of targeted, skill-level instruction daily.

Many families come to Oakwood from schools where their child received pull-out services, resource room support, or specialized instruction for specific subjects. At Oakwood, those supports are built into the core of every classroom. Every teacher uses direct, explicit, and multisensory instruction, so your child learns in a fully integrated environment designed for how they learn best.
