ART AND MUSIC

Modern Art Sun Over Water

Art enhances the curriculum in many ways. An art teacher provides instruction every other week with additional art   activities led by the classroom teachers on a regular basis.

Music classes occur on a weekly basis (twice a week for younger students). Appreciating music, learning to perform   songs and play instruments, and enhancing the curriculum are goals of the music program.

PHYSICAL EDUCATION

Students have P.E. four times a week. The emphasis of our P.E. program is on developing individual skills. Some of our students excel at sports, others are developing their skills. Our physical education program is led by an adaptive P.E. instructor.

We know our students need exercise - some to wake up and others to calm down. Brain Gym exercises   encourage motor integration. The Alert Program helps students monitor their level of alertness -     teachers ask students to check how their “engine is running” and allow them the opportunity to regulate   their “engines” via a menu of exercises.
