Oakwood School is seeking candidates for the position of part-time Field Trip Drivers to transport teachers and students in school vehicles, specifically the school's 14-seat school bus.
Field trips occur between the hours of 8:45 am and 2:30 pm Tuesday through Friday during the academic year. On average, Oakwood takes 10-15 trips a year. Candidates should be confident navigating a 14-passenger bus in Northern Virginia/DC area traffic, traveling up to two hours at a time in one direction, be over the age of 25, and possess a valid driver's license (CDL is not required).
Required Qualifications
- At least 25 years of age
- Hold a current/valid driver's license (CDL not required)
Candidates will be required to provide documentation of a safe driving record in the state of Virginia and pass necessary background checks required to work with students in an elementary/middle school setting.
Physical Requirements of Field Trip Driver:
Candidates must be able to meet certain physical demands required for a Field Trip Driver with or without reasonable accommodation. Candidates must possess good vision, including the ability to see long distances and peripheral vision to monitor traffic and surroundings effectively. Excellent hearing is essential for understanding instructions, communicating with students, and being aware of potential safety hazards. Physical strength and dexterity are necessary for operating bus controls, including steering, braking, and adjusting mirrors. Candidates should also be capable of sitting for extended periods and have the flexibility to turn, twist, and reach to ensure proper vehicle operation. Overall, field trip drivers must maintain physical fitness and agility to perform their duties safely and efficiently.
