After more than two decades at Oakwood, Dean of Academics Erin Morgan will be concluding her tenure at the end of this school year as she and her family relocate to London.

Erin joined Oakwood in 2004 as an instructional assistant, and over the years that followed, she grew into every role she took on: classroom teacher, Academic Coordinator for Math, and ultimately Dean of Academics. The academic culture she helped build is woven into the fabric of this school, and her impact will be felt for years to come. We are deeply grateful for everything she has given to Oakwood and wish her and her family every joy in this new chapter.

Oakwood is pleased to announce that Mrs. Tamara Gordon has been appointed Dean of Academics, effective the 2026–2027 school year. Tamara has been part of our community since 2013, serving as a classroom teacher, Academic Coordinator, and, most recently, Dean of Student Life. She brings nearly 20 years of experience as an educator and school leader, a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology, and a Master's of Teaching in Special and Elementary Education from the University of Virginia. She holds a Virginia teaching license with endorsements in Elementary Education (NK–8) and Specific Learning Disabilities (K–12).

Tamara steps into this role with deep roots in our program, a longstanding commitment to our students and families, and a clear understanding of the mission that guides everything we do at Oakwood. We are confident in her leadership and excited for what she will bring to this position.
