Hot Air Balloon Visits Oakwood

The students enjoyed the chance to see a hot air balloon up close as one was inflated on our campus. The students learned about the science that makes a balloon rise and fall as well as how the parts of the balloon and basket work. Standing right underneath the balloon, students were close enough to feel the torches heat the air in the balloon and watch as the wind started to make the balloon sway. Students also had a chance to operate a remote control balloon to better understand how it works and have a little fun too. It was an excited experience for all...even the traffic on nearby Braddock enjoyed a view of the colorful balloon.
