Oakwood School is a K-8th grade, private day school serving students with mild to moderate learning differences. With small class sizes (8-13 students) and a team-teaching model, Oakwood School serves to meet students where they are, teach them successful strategies, and help them reach their potential. Oakwood School is a small, close-knit community that supports its teachers and provides a nurturing and welcoming environment. We are changing lives everyday at Oakwood.
Oakwood School in Northern Virginia is now accepting applications for teachers with appropriate training to serve Elementary and/or Middle School students with learning disabilities. Teacher licensure and/or a graduate degree in Special Education, Learning Disabilities or a related field is preferred. The Oakwood team-teaching model requires good communication and professional collaboration skills to provide the best educational experience for our students. An understanding of multi-sensory teaching methods, diverse learning styles and specific strategies for teaching students with learning needs and dyslexia is required. An appropriate candidate will also demonstrate positive classroom management techniques for students with attentional issues, processing challenges, dysgraphia, and language-based learning disabilities. Oakwood School is dedicated to helping each child reach his/her potential.
